SUSTAINABILITY

At WEST LINN PAPER COMPANY, we understand that the success of our business relies on our environmental practices and the sustainability of our environmental resources. This point is emphasized because of our location, situated at the foot of the Willamette Falls, just a few miles from downtown Portland, Oregon. We constantly strive to preserve and protect the natural beauty that surrounds us through sound environmental practices and careful management. Our philosophy of environmental best practices includes:

  • Offering our Nature line of recycled paper products with 10% - 30% post-consumer waste (PCW) recycled content
  • Obtaining FSC certification for our entire Nature line of products as well as a Sonoma FSC-certified option
  • Closely monitoring our suppliers and instituting a policy requiring annual disclosure of their forestry and bleaching practices and reporting on our progress to obtain more sustainable forestry practices.
  • Consistently exceeding regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving waste reduction, energy efficiency and environmental practices as part of our day-to-day business operations.
  • Supporting and exploring progressive programs to reduce waste and emissions such as purchasing wind power, extensive recycling and ride share programs.
  • Communicating and openly discussing environmental practices to employees, the community and regulatory agencies.

At the WEST LINN PAPER COMPANY, success means going above and beyond mere compliance. We continually strive to exceed expectations and produce our products in a more sustainable way. We are proud of our accomplishments and will continue to improve our mill operations and environmental practices—our business and community depend on it.
